TEPA promotes a recognized standard of knowledge, competency and ethics among all market participants, and works to ensure that policy makers and regulators understand the value of these standards and how they work to benefit consumer choice.
TEPA works with other market participants and stakeholders to encourage cooperative analysis of issues facing providers and consumers in the competitive energy marketplace, and advocates for positions and policies that promote robust competition and effective consumer choice.
How does TEPA participate in the legislative and regulatory process in Texas?
In Texas, TEPA serves as a resource to the Texas Legislature and related regulatory agencies, such as the Public Utility Commission (PUC) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).
TEPA advocates for laws, rules and policies that promote fair competition and ensure consumers have the information and access they need to make informed choices between competitive providers of energy.
TEPA retains a contract consultant as a legislative advocate, and currently works with Kathy Grant to ensure that TEPA is informed when issues may affect its members, and that policy makers are informed and understand how proposed new laws or policies affect TEPA member companies and the consumers they serve in the competitive electricity marketplace.
