As the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner at Eastwood Energy Group, I’m responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of our brokerage firm. Aside from operation strategies, I handle supplier management and directly managing both residential and commercial energy campaigns across ERCOT.
How did you get started in the energy industry?
I grew up in Missouri and moved to Texas in 2008 to pursue my career. In 2009 I accepted an administrative position with an energy brokerage firm in downtown Dallas, which is where my 11-year (and counting) journey in retail energy began!
Along the way, I’ve had wonderful mentors who helped me create a path for my future in this industry. During seven formative years helping build the company across the United States and Canada, I took a leap of faith and started my own business. In 2017 I opened my first office in South Texas, and in 2018 I made a strategic decision to partner with Roger Despres Jr. and Brad Roach to form Eastwood Energy Group. Since Eastwood’s official launch in 2018, we’ve grown to serve more than 2,500 commercial and work with nearly 14,000 residential customers.
How long have you been a TEPA member?
Eastwood Energy Group joined TEPA in 2018, and we are currently in our 2nd year as an active member.
What’s a professional/personal bucket list item?
Personally, I want to learn how to solve a Rubik’s cube. But professionally, I want to start a nonprofit organization for girls who have faced adversity at a young age. I want to empower them to break through barriers and become strong, independent, and successful women.
What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a true outdoors woman at heart! I grew up shooting bows with my twin brothers, and even shot in outdoor competitive youth archery tournaments around the age of 10.
What’s been a favorite or most memorable part of your career?
After our first full year of business, Eastwood Energy Group was recognized by ENGIE with our first “Pinnacle Award” for being the top volume broker in ERCOT.
What’s your best advice for someone new to our industry?
For anyone new to our industry – and especially for women – my best advice is to POWER THROUGH ADVERSITY. You’ll find that your dreams are attainable when you stay focused and move through your fears.
If you could pick one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Lobster and crab Mac-n-cheese!
What’s been the professional/personal value of your TEPA membership?
TEPA simply makes sense for anyone in our industry who wants to be a part of this community! Having exclusive access to top leaders from all sides of the industry is truly invaluable. Personally, I’ve developed great friendships at the networking events!
Professionally, I’ve been exposed to so many wonderful people who have given advice, or even had services, that helped accelerate the growth of our firm. At the 2019 TEPA conference in Austin, we met a new REP and just recently added them as a supplier partner. Membership in TEPA is worth the investment in your business – whether you’re a REP, ABC or provide energy related services.
I am also very excited about being a part of the “Power Women” organization and look forward to learning from other strong women in this industry, as well as using my own experience to help empower others.
