Meet the past presidents.
For 10 years, Paul has worked at Summit Energy, now Schneider-Electric, as a sales associate, client energy manager and currently, as a director of the company. In this role, he is responsible for managing multiple accounts, his team and sales operation. Prior to joining Summit Energy, he worked at PoCo Energy Group beginning in sales and working his way up toward account manager and then vice president.
Involved in the deregulated markets since the beginning of deregulation in Texas, Paul has the know-how and skills, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the energy industry. He has worked in all types of businesses related to the development of the market. Paul also served as Chair on the Discipline Committee for three years to help enforce a code of conduct in the market through corrective instruction of TEPA’s membership.
Paul has over twenty-five years of experience in infrastructure development and regulatory compliance. His clients include public- and private-sector organizations preparing to exercise their options in deregulated telecommunications and electric markets. Paul helps public power utilities and other entities to implement electric deregulation plans. He has served as a municipal regulatory affairs officer and negotiated licenses and franchises for cable-television and telecommunications providers.
His duties included rights-of-way management, telecommunications tower sitting, Internet public service delivery and other economic development initiatives. As an economist at the Public Utility Commission of Texas, Paul was involved in telecommunications and electric tariff development and rate design. He also coordinated conservation and load-management projects and served on several Federal Communications Commission Joint Boards.
JD brings an extensive background of marketing and energy expertise to Rapid Power Management as he helped start up Reliant’s North Texas operations a year before deregulation started in the state. JD earned a BBA in Marketing from the University of Houston Clear Lake in ’91, an MBA in International Business Management from the University of Texas at Dallas in ’00.
In the Energy field, he has attained a CEM certification (Certified Energy Manager) in December of 2006 and a CLEP certification (Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional) in 2007.
ST. CLAIR NEWBERN IV
A founding member of TEPA, St. Clair now serves as an at-large board member and a member of the PR and website committees. He works with other committee members to ensure the organization’s communication strategies and messaging are clear and consistent. He also oversees third parties contracted to implement PR and website related initiatives.
He served as the TEPA secretary in 2007, vice president in 2008 and president in 2009. During his term as TEPA president, St. Clair rolled out the CEP certification process and hired the organization’s first lobbyist in 2009, which led to TEPA’s official presence in the legislative process.
St. Clair is the president and CEO of Live Energy Inc., a privately held energy broker and consulting firm that has helped businesses of all sizes lower electricity costs since deregulation began in Texas. His career in the energy brokerage and consulting business began in 2001, when he founded the company. In his role, St. Clair manages all aspects of the company from IT to sales and ensures continued growth. He has always been an entrepreneur with a focus in the technology and energy fields.
St. Clair attended the University of Texas from 1992 to 1996.
Brian Markham is the President of TES Energy Services, LP. Drawing on a career that has cut across multiple industries including energy, distribution logistics, manufacturing representation and electrical supply distribution. Brian was also the past President of the The Energy Professionals Association.
Prior to joining TES Energy Services, LP, Brian served as Vice President and General Manager of PhD. Southwest, Inc. PhD Southwest, Inc. is a leader in the distribution and logistics business throughout the United States. Prior to joining PhD. Southwest, Inc., Brian worked within the house ware industry as the President and owner of D.U. Parker and Associates. D.U. Parker and Associates was a manufacturer representative in leading house ware manufactures.
Brian earned his Bachelor of Business Administration at SMU and studied management courses at Harvard University. Brian served in the USMC.
David Wiers has over 15 years of experience in creating and delivering innovative solutions in the energy industry. Mr. Wiers has participated in many deregulated markets from their inception and has shared his expertise at many conferences and forums, advocating electricity deregulation and representing third-party aggregators, brokers, and consultants (ABC) channels. Based in Chicago, Mr. Wiers is responsible for overseeing all internal and external development at Satori, ensuing business units are operating efficiently, formulating marketing plans and policies, and ultimately leading the strategic vision of the firm. Since inception, Satori Energy has served more than 21,000 accounts and helped clients achieve significant energy savings through the intelligent purchase of energy. In late 2011, Mr. Wiers assisted on the due diligence and ultimately the purchase of Select Energy Partners (SEP).
