The Energy Professionals Association (TEPA) Announces New 2021 National Board

HOUSTON – Feb 9, 2021 – The Energy Professionals Association (TEPA) recently announced the organization’s 2021 national board including new President and Vice President. Javier Barrios succeeds Huston Able, who served as TEPA’s national board president from 2019 to 2021. Barrios will be TEPA’s first national board president located outside of ERCOT. TEPA’s national vice president position will be held by Jared Patterson, Director of Energy Services at Texas-based Rapid Power Management who also serves as a member of the Texas House of Representatives.

“I appreciate Huston Able’s vision and service as TEPA’s national board president over the last two years,” said Barrios. “Under his leadership TEPA continued to extend its voice outside Texas and become a respected advocate for the national retail energy market. It’s an honor to serve as TEPA’s first national board president outside Texas. I believe it’s a testament to TEPA’s expanding presence across our industry, and I look forward to advocating on behalf of this great industry, as well as our national membership and our customers.”

Barrios is a founding member and Managing Partner of Good Energy LP, a national consulting firm headquartered in New York City with offices in Texas, Illinois and several states open to competitive energy markets. He has been instrumental in growing TEPA’s membership across the Northeast and served as the founding president of the TEPA Northeast group. An expert in Community Choice Aggregation, Energy Management and Utility Procurement, he represents several corporate and governmental institutions across the country, and has launched groundbreaking legislation and community energy programs in several states.

Jared Patterson will serve as TEPA’s national vice president. For the last decade, Patterson has worked for Rapid Power Management as a part of the company’s Strategic Leadership Team serving as Director of Energy Services. In addition to his successful career in the retail energy sector, Representative Patterson has dedicated himself to serving his neighbors in public office.  Representative Patterson was first elected to the Texas House in 2018 and again in 2020 where he proudly serves the taxpayers in District 106.  As a Texas House Member, he is TEPA’s first elected official to serve on the national TEPA board.
