TEPA Announces 2022 Board Members, National Expansion

HOUSTON – January 5, 2022 – The Energy Professionals Association (TEPA) today announced the organization’s 2022 National Board, along with the addition of three at-large board members who will guide the organization’s efforts to support its growing membership base across the country. Rapid Power Management’s Jared Patterson, a 16-year energy industry veteran, will succeed Javier Barrios, Managing Partner at Good Energy, as the national board president.

As a not-for-profit organization, all board positions are filled by TEPA members who volunteer their time and expertise. They support the organization’s efforts to provide professional development, advocacy and networking opportunities for its national membership base.

“It was an honor to work with Javier as he navigated TEPA through a year filled with countless challenges and opportunities,” said Jared Patterson. “He brought a unique perspective and vision to TEPA as our first national TEPA board president headquartered outside Texas. I look forward to continuing the growth we’ve experienced and look forward to advocating on behalf of our members and the customers we serve over the coming year.”

Patterson has been with Rapid Power Management (RPM) more than 13 years as a sales manager and strategic leader, serving as Director of Energy Services. He not only serves his company and industry, but his neighbors in public office. First elected in 2018, Jared serves in the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 106 in Denton County. As a Texas House Member, he is TEPA’s first elected official to lead the organization.

Mike Payne, E.V.P. of Commercial Operations and Corporate Counsel at Alternative Energy Development Group (AEDG) will serve as TEPA’s national vice president. AEDG provides advisory services to commercial and industrial clients across the U.S. Before joining AEDG, Mike served 21 years with APPI Energy where he created, developed, and manage consulting services, due diligence of energy suppliers, and corporate legal matters. He helped facilitated development of relationships with trade associations.

“We have an incredible leadership team in place at TEPA for the upcoming year,” said Shannon McGriff, TEPA Executive Director. “I’m excited to work closely with Jared and help implement his vision he has for TEPA’s advocacy and education efforts. I’m also excited to announce the expansion of the National Board to include three new at-large positions. These new roles were created to better help us support our growing membership, and these three industry veterans will be incredible resources to TEPA.”
